Saveur – Purvis Street!

02 Sep

Backdated post, but still, never too late to share about good food!

We were in Bugis area after service, and we decided to go to MINT Museum of Toys. So en route we were around Purvis Street, and I caught sight of Saveur. I told Jem that the food there was relatively cheap for French food, and he immediately reckoned that it’d be good to go there for lunch.

However when we reached the place, it was 2.30pm and the restaurant was closed, only due to open again at 6pm, so we decided to go and walk around and chill in the area before going back for dinner.

We got back to the area at 6.10pm and the place was PACKED. They only opened 1 side of the restaurant first, and would open the other section at 6.30pm, so we had to put our names down first and wait.

At least it wasn’t a super long wait, as I had anticipated. So people, if you want to go to Saveur (regardless of whether it’s the Far East Plaza or Purvis Street), please go early!! At least half an hour in advance is suggested!

Thankfully we didn’t have to wait long for our food to be served!

20130902-151234.jpgWe ordered their signature pasta and upsized it to share, as an entree. It was really good, I wish it was a main heh. ($6.90)

20130902-151424.jpg I had been to Saveur before, but with Li Ying, and stole a bite of her duck confit, and I knew this was a good recommendation here. So both Jem and myself ordered this each, and he was impressed by its quality ๐Ÿ™‚ ($10.90)

We both had to slowly savor it, as it was a relatively small portion and we didn’t want it to go down too fast.

It’s said that the best way to enjoy and eat food is the French way – to eat it slowly.

20130902-151756.jpgWe decided to order the dessert of the day – coffee creme brรปlรฉe!

It was really unique, especially since most of us are used to the original vanilla flavor ๐Ÿ™‚

By far, this was the best meal both of us shared in a long while, because we try not to splurge too much on cafes – eating out can be a really expensive affair sometimes!

In part, it was a perfect day out for us that particular Sunday – we did so much stuff together outside and indulged in something really good too ๐Ÿ™‚
And this also means that I hope I can jump on an airplane to tour Europe one day, be able to savor their cuisine, experience their culture ๐Ÿ™‚
